Their normal habitat is woodsy dark forests preferring conifer trees. Originally from China they have been naturalized in parts of Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South America.

This Golden Pheasant, Linda’s Exotic Bird Sculpture, is approximately 20” tip of tail to beak. 12” tall and 4” deep. He is one of a kind sculpture and is made of polymer clay on a wire armature. The wire is shaped into the form of a bird, filled with foil and covered in a thin layer of polymer clay which is baked. Polymer clay canes (logs of polymer with a pattern running the length of the log) are shaped and cut into thin slices to be use as feathers. Polymer clay creates the color so no paint needs to be used. Polymer is durable, water resistant and colorfast making it the perfect medium for this kind of sculptures. After the individual feathers are placed on the bird, he is baked again sanded and buffed.

The armature……The clay form……and The tail

The long tail of the Golden Pheasant is made and baked separately. The tail is added through a slot to the finished bird.
This sculpture adds beauty to any room décor. It can be used outside in a protected space keeping in mind that freezing temperatures could cause cracking and extreme heat could soften and sag.
The process to make this bird takes about 40 hours and there is only one! He could belong to you….
